Interview with Jeffrey Klug : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Jeffrey Klug : It solves a very contemporary problem. It used to be that a TV sat on a table and the audio system sat on a shelf somewhere. All these electronic components in a home have changes shape and moved around next to each other and there isn't a piece a furniture fro all of it so that it doesn't look haphazard and disheveled. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Jeffrey Klug : Well I didn't want it to look like an electronic component, I wanted it to be domestic, a piece of furniture that you would be proud of but not be out of place with electronics. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Jeffrey Klug : I's love to see it sold more widely. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Jeffrey Klug : I had a client that saw teh same problem I did an dI designed it for him. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Jeffrey Klug : I intend to offer it to my clients, no larger plans at the moment. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. Jeffrey Klug : Yes, I had been thinking about a whole line of furniture based on this concept. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Jeffrey Klug : Anyone who own a lot of AV equipment but hates to see it in a pile. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Jeffrey Klug : Its materiality .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. Jeffrey Klug : I worked with a fantastic craftsman who understood the bamboo plywood extremely well. .Frank Scott: What is the role of technology in this particular design?. Jeffrey Klug : It is made with pretty low tech tools, yet it holds pretty high tech objects. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. Jeffrey Klug : No .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Jeffrey Klug : A lot of people liked it .
